Becki Biggins and her Trio – Friday February 5th

BECKI BIGGINS with Malcolm Edmonstone on piano, Dave Olney on double bass and Harold Fisher on drums – www.myspace.com/beckibigginsmusic

Friday February 5th 8pm at The Six Bells, Fulbourn

Appearing in Fulbourn for the first time EVER, Grammy Nominee Becki Biggins will perform, with her trio, at The Function Room at The Six Bells on Friday February 5th, 2010 at 8pm

Becki is a rising star. In the past year she has won both the American Billboard award for ‘Best Contemporary Jazz Album’ and Marlborough Jazz Festival’s ‘Best Newcomer’ award. Her recent album held the number one spot in the American jazz charts for nine weeks, and was in the top 20 for a staggering 59 weeks.

Becki performs regularly in various locations around the UK and, in October, gave a sell-out debut performance at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho.

Becki will perform modern takes on jazz standards. For this very special concert she will be joined by her Dream Team, featuring ‘local boy’ Dave Olney on bass and will be launching her new CD.

Dave Olney (bass) and Harold Fisher (drums) are well known for their work on Strictly Come Dancing and Parkinson and with The Laurie Holloway Trio. Malcolm Edmonstone has also worked as pianist and arranger for Strictly Come Dancing and as Musical Director for Jacqui Dankworth. They have all worked extensively as freelance studio musicians on TV, in West End shows and concerts worldwide. They recently worked with Becki Biggins at a prestigious charity event for The Dallaglio Foundation, performing to many celebrities, including Prince Harry.

Laurie Holloway (MD Parkinson/Strictly Come Dancing) says:

‘Becki Biggins is a rare talent these days. She has an individual style and sound. She sings only quality material. By the way… she is also very beautiful.’

Decades of Dance! Vital Communities Spring Celebration – Friday 5 March 2010

Join our Vital Communities artists, Splitz Theatre Artz, families and community members for ‘Decades of Dance’ at The Townley Memorial Hall on Friday 5 March from 6.30pm to 8.00pm. This special event will showcase the changing dance styles throughout the ages along with a puppetry performance, live music, themed milk bar refreshments and more!

Vital Communities now needs your help with this celebration. Have you ever attended a dance event (eg. a ball, hop or disco) in Fulbourn and witnessed some memorable dance moves and fun times? Have you any photographs or perhaps some souvenirs (eg. tickets, programme, dance card, clothing)? Or maybe you’d like to share your memories and experiences of a special dance event?

We are looking for your memories, photographic
or otherwise, of any and all dances that have taken place in Fulbourn’s history to help us discover more and to be displayed at the final celebration.

If you would like to contribute please contact Hannah Ellis, Project Administrator, on 01223 715478, or email hannah.ellis@cambridgeshire.gov.uk. Alternatively, you can bring the item along with you to the evening.

Our audience will then select the most inspiring photo, souvenir or memory and the winner will receive a prize from Vital Communities. Please remember to include your name, a contact number and an address with your entry so that we can return the object to you. All photographs/souvenirs will be returned to their owners after the celebration event on Friday 5 March.

Vital Communities is a partnership project resourced by Arts Council England East and the seven local authorities of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
