Fulbourn Cinema – Seven Years in Tibet (PG) – Friday 16 January 2015

starring Brad Pitt, David Thewlis and BD Wong
Seven Years in Tibet
The true story of Heinrich Harrer, Austrian mountaineer, who became friends with the young Dalai Lama at the time of China’s takeover of Tibet. After the death of 11 climbers, Harrer decides to gain glory for his country by climbing Nanga Parbat in then British India, leaving his expectant wife behind. An egoist and a loner, he does not get along with his team. After WWII breaks out they are arrested and put in a POW Camp. Eventually, however, he and another team member find their way to Lhasa – a place banned to foreigners – where he becomes the unlikely friend and confidant of the young Dalai Lama, before witnessing the brutal subjugation of Tibet to communist China.
