Fulbourn Cinema – I, Daniel Blake (15) Sat 21 Jan 2017
Starring Dave Johns and Hayley Squires
Directed by Ken Loach, this critically acclaimed film won the Palme d’Or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Loach is known for his socially critical directing style and his film Kes (previously shown by Fulbourn Cinema) was voted the seventh greatest film of the 20th Century in a poll by the National Film Institute.
In I, Daniel Blake, a 59 year old carpenter recovering from a heart attack befriends a single mum and her two kids as they both navigate their way through a Kafkaesque impersonal benefits system. With humour, warmth and despair, the film is hearfelt and emotional to the end.
Please note that this screening is on a Saturday, not the usual Friday.
The next Fulbourn cinema will be on Friday 24 March – details to be announced.
