Arts events in Fulbourn Cambridgeshire
Fabulous Art Day at Fulbourn Primary school run by and sponsored by Fulbourn Arts. We had a very enthusiastic welcome at the morning assembly from the children who then went to work in different workshops through out the day, designed and delivered by local professional artists to link to each year group’s curriculum.
The Reception topic is Space, and the children were happily engaged in print making with Jackie Duckworth Art, designing their own constellations to navigate by and creating boats for their sea journeys.
Year 1 and 2 used their imaginations to be Vikings visiting a supermarket to see what they can find to make their helmets. They worked with illustrator Nicci Martin to make their own helmets to wear and lots of interesting things for a fabulous Viking feast.
Years 3 and 4 wrote stories about the ancient Egyptians and designed and drew story/comic boards to illustrate their stories with the expert guidance of Steven Austin.
Years 5 and 6 experimented with specialist paint crystals to create out of this world Space paintings, with gaseous nebulas, stars, galaxies and gas giant planets. A technically challenging painting technique that produced wonderful results under the guidance of Allison Henderson Art.
Huge thanks to Mr Rhodes the school’s Arts coordinator and all the staff and parent volunteers, whose support, help and enthusiasm is very much appreciated, and especial thanks to David and Sylvia Cottee who worked tirelessly all day, in two of the largest workshops.
Fulbourn Arts were delighted to present Prizes and certificates for the Big Draw Fulbourn 60 sec Snowman Challenge during the assembly, well done to the 3 prize winners.
