Misanthropic TV weather man/broadcaster Phil Connors is annoyed and despondent when he is sent for the fourth year running to cover the annual Groundhog festivities in Punxsutawney – when the townsfolk consult the groundhog to find if spring is imminent. He is grumpy with his producer Rita and downright nasty with cameraman Larry. But the real nightmare begins when Phil is unable to leave the town due to a severe blizzard, and on awaking the ‘following’ day he discovers that it is Groundhog Day again, and again, and again…..! With no end in sight, Phil struggles to find a way to escape (and ultimately make the best of) his seemingly hopeless situation. He adapts and learns that the key to life isn’t what happens but how you react to it!
Groundhog Day is full of ingenious ideas, and it throws up new developments and delightful twists at every opportunity. A great comedy.
Tickets on the door: £5; U16 £3.
