Abi Cochran

Silverspirals is the silverwork of Abi Cochran.

I make one-off pieces of jewellery, mainly in silver, sometimes in gold, often with colour from enamel, gemstones and resin.

My website www.silverspirals.co.uk is where see new work, see the best of my old work and find much more information.

I sell my work online through my Etsy shop – www.etsy.com/shop/SilverSpiralsShop

As part of Cambridge Open Studios  I open up my Fulbourn workshop to the public almost every summer. Much of my work is made for and sold to local people.

I first starting working (or playing) with metals as a young child in my grandmother’s silversmithing workshop over 25 years ago. My great-grandmother Florence (married to the art and crafts bookbinder Douglas Cockerell) was a silversmith as well. My Mother Clarissa Cochran is a textile artist and painter.

Travelling always inspires. I’ve studied temple patterns in Thailand, visited jewellery workshops in India, Amber workshops in Gdansk Poland and exhibited in Osaka Japan…But Fulbourn is often an inspiration too!
